The focus of my work is balancing form and function. Through my studio and business, Measure Cut Cut, I create a lot of one of a kind furniture pieces on a mostly commissioned-basis. I also like to explore more whimsical forms through traditional sculptural methods. I love handmade objects that are built to last and reflect both the ingenuity and imperfection of human work. I'm interested in oddities, props, machines and mysteries and I have a specific interest in relational aesthetics. This often leads me to design furniture and art pieces with interactive components - drawers, hidden compartments, personalized messages and invitations - to expand relationships, reflect on personal narratives and highlight processes and rituals. When I make a piece for someone, my main goal is to tell a story about them, while also telling a story about who I am as an artist and person. My work was most recently featured in the Bemis Center's Regional Juried Exhibition, and I've participated in numerous local exhibitions over the past couple years. I'm also proud to be a mentor for the Kent Bellows Studio and Center for the Visual Arts.
