Lissa has been creating since she was a little girl growing up in the Midwest. Her passion became more than a hobby when she decided to study Fine Art in college and graduate with her emphasis in painting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Influenced by the vibrant world around her, Lissa creates pieces that incorporate her fascination with color, pattern, and texture. Though oil paint is her main medium, she also includes found scraps of paper and textiles into her work. The idea of being able to “recycle” what once was garbage into something beautiful is gratifying. The process of creating what has been described as “Whimsical Worlds” is both therapeutic and exciting for Lissa. She begins each piece not knowing what will be revealed.
Lissa’s work has been shown in a multitude of galleries throughout the Midwest including the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. Her work can also be seen in collections such as the Methodist Women’s Hospital in Omaha, NE. She currently lives in Boulder, CO where she paints in her sunroom overlooking the Flatirons.
