My subjects are often found in dreams; topics and issues that our soul seems to unearth after our eyes close and we stop thinking: Animals fused with human elements, characters in flight, and symbols representing journeys, movement, perseverance and the passionate spirit. I am also influenced by travels to California and Colorado, relationships, sound, memory, losses, gains and how my mind processes through and makes sense of it all. The main threads running through are about relationships, the relationships between animals and their environment...and the emotional state of these characters.
The pieces are dreamlike, ethereal and whimsical. There is a quiet feeling for contentment and peace, contemplation and reflection. They are about broader expansive moments, rather than raw, sharp, single moments.
I push the boundaries of color, always testing new methods of layering, new pigments, and new combinations of tones and textures that best communicate the message of each piece. I love colors that you can get lost in.
